“Deserter” – the cost of war

At this time when we are remembering the “Great War” let me provide you with one statistic I gleaned from the book “Deserter – A hidden history of the second world war” by Charles Glass.

In 1943 … “twenty five years after the end of the last war, nearly half of the 67,000 beds in Veterans Administration hospitals (USA) are still occupied by neuro-psychiatric casualties of World War 1” [Fortune magazine]

I can thoroughly recommend the book to anyone interested in WW2.
